During the night after office hour, I drove to Seri Kembangan area from Asia Jaya as I have an opportunity to review Christine Ko Bakery shop. I was kinda excited because this is my first baking things review. Frankly speaking, I had never bake anything before other than cooking instant noodle and some fried food stuff. Well, her shop is located at 2nd floor of where you can see a tiny mole cartoon on the top right hand side of the window.
I met with her husband, Mr Alex who opened the door for me and I just got to know they're a couple who doing this bakery business for quite sometime. Upon reached at the 2nd floor, the first thing I encounter is a very strong sweet smelling of butter cake smell. Then I realized it was actually come from this oven where they're baking the butter cookies.
I was kinda hungry when looking at those cookies.
In fact, I was just in time when the cookies is baked but need to put on a tray for it to cool down.
Isn't it lovely to see so many cute monkey head cookies around?
On the other hand, I was attracted with the fondant cake display and miniature cute Japanese cupcakes hand made by her as I taken some picture below.
Seriously I have no idea how she made those miniature cupcakes as you can see it is so details to inch and cute. One of the display that impress me is this "Fu,Lu,Shou" (福。禄。寿。) figure.
To me, this design is really awesome and I was told that she use few weeks to make this. In fact, this can be eaten since it is made of sugar which is same with those Japanese food cupcakes cute design above. After that, we went to the nearby 98 seafood restaurant to have our dinner and I was grateful for being treated for the dinner.
Upon back to the bakery center, I helped to pack the pineapple and monkey cookies into the container box.
Well, you won't believe the quality control is tight as each cookies need to be check and remove the excess layer to met perfection.
After that, the container is sealed with the gold tape so that the air wouldn't go in.
Moreover, it is designed to be easily open as there is a small opening at the gold tape below.
Finally it is being packed into the red paper bag where you can give it to your friends as a souvenir or gifts.
Apparently I do have the chance to taste the butter cookies (牛油饼干), lemon cookies (柠檬饼干), tea cookies (铁观音饼干), strawberry cookies (草莓饼干) and cappucino cookies (热奶咖啡饼干).
The monkey head shape cookies that I taste is butter cookies and strawberry cookies.
The pineapple cookies that I taste is lemon flavour while the God of Fortune (财神爷) is cappuccino taste.
After that, I have a chance to attend her royal icing piping class.
What surprise me is she holds a Law graduate but venture into baking industry and below is the ingredient used to bake the custom cookies.
At first I use the butter flavour dough and roll it into a small piece to put on the baking paper with her guidance.
The I use the circle moulder to crop the biscuit shape and take out the remaining with the "Guan Dao" special small plastic knife.
Then we continue with the love shape and monkey head shape.
When it's done, we put into the oven and I was told to set it for 25 minutes for the cookies to be ready.
Next, we continue with the piping class and it is kinda hard to trace the letter at first although she guided me.
After a few trial, I managed to trace it and realized the secret is on the way you hold the it with different hand pressure.
You can watch my trial in video mode below before I finally manage to made it.
After 25 minutes past, the butter cookies is ready and I put it on a tray for it to cool down.
Then she shared with me about this edible pen Ameri Colour Gourment pen that comes in different colour.
It is actually use to draw the shape of the custom cookies design that you want into the cookies. I had tried to trace the monkey picture and it looks quite ugly.
Hence, I asked her to draw and do the piping Monkey cookies for me as there is two different version. Below is the custom monkey cookies design with gold.
Another shape is the custom Monkey biscuit deign is with healthy bag (福袋).
You can see the time lapse on how it was made.
Next, we waited for the design to dry for a while before can draw the "Reload Food" keyword into the monkey biscuit.
I was really happy to see the custom monkey cookies being made.
Apparently you can see it is a big different from the monkey design that I do when compared with my "Sifu" design.
We placed it in a nice cupboard board and take a picture of it.
Overall it is a very awesome baking experience for me and I truly enjoyed it. Besides, their promise is really so true which suite with their "You Dream It, We Bake It" mission. I do saw the Despicable Me minion miniature at there too.
All this thanks to both Ms Christine and Mr Alex for making this review happening.
